At the close end of 80’s during the devastating flood, when most of the areas under Tangail district were badly affected and submerged in flood water than to help the people affected by the flood, a group of social workers came forward extending their cooperation with necessary emergency relief materials and rehabilitation programs. While working the young, energetic social workers realized that the poor and destitute families were more severely affected because these people had no education, no idea to cope with any adverse situation and economically helpless. They are conservative and bonded with religious and social superstitions which pushed them to be neglected from every corner of human rights. Simultaneously, the social workers discussed among themselves and communicating with more like minded persons, they, with a view to overall develop these rural poor, socially ignored and destitute families and established peace in the society at the beginning of 90’s formed a Non-Government, Non-political Organization named Social Advancement Through Unitu-SATU.
